Update from the NICU

I recently returned from the NICU. I wanted to make sure Coop got settled in well. He was sleeping soundly. He looks great and his respiration rate had come down to a normal range. It had been high in the room. In addition to the little bit of fluid in his lungs, he also has a lot of air in his belly. The nurse said that he may have swallowed too much air when crying immediately after birth. In very rare cases, it may indicate some sort of blockage. She didn't see any signs of a blockage on x-ray. She also said he just "doesn't have the look" of a baby with serious problems. He also has a slight heart murmur, which they are constantly monitoring. Hopefully, both of those issues will be cleared up by morning.

I realize not everyone reading this blog subscribes to our beliefs, but I would be remiss if I didn't say that our faith in God and the touch of his spirit is what sustains us right now. We are resting in the promise that "faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen." So if you are believer, say a prayer for us. If you aren't, your thoughts and concerns are very much appreciated.
