Okay, Kelli got the steroids for her Bell's Palsy, which has slowed or stopped the progress. Sometime last night, she started having back spasms. They kept her up most of the night. She only slept for two hours. This morning I was helping her shower, and she mentioned the possibility that they might be contractions. When I started to massage her, I noticed it was not an area where she typically has back pain. Now we were pretty well convinced these were contractions.
Luckily, her final appointment with Dr. Sharp was this morning. Recalling my days in the Boy Scouts (and blocking out the memory of my Scout master growing his own weed), I decided to "be prepared." We finished packing our bags, gathered up all the mobile production gear we would need for a high-definition birth video and headed to the hospital.
Dr. Sharp checked her out. He looked at her palsy (or "the parsley" as we call it). After hearing about her back pains, he said, "well, you've got Bell's Palsy, you're contracting and you're 38 weeks. What do you say we have a baby today?"
So, we grabbed lunch for me and Savvi. Then we went back to the house to get Savvi some toys. Now, we're back at the hospital, waiting for a 4pm C-section.
My mom had a Dr's appointment today, so they won't be here until about 7pm. Kelli's parents are now scrambling to get here. Needless to say, none of us were completely prepared for this. I won't even go into what our yard looks like.
The best part is that Savannah was with us this morning. As soon as she heard that Cooper was coming today, she started jumping up and down, chanting "we're gonna have a baby!" She is tired, but very excited, as are we all.
More updates coming!
