In the NICU

Cooper was breathing a little too rapidly for the doctors, so they chose to move him to the NICU for at least a day. He seems to have a lot of fluid on his lungs, which is not uncommon for repeat C-section babies. They are giving him an IV to keep him hydrated and keep his blood sugar regulated. They are also giving him antibiotics as a preventative measure, just in case the fluid is the result of an infection. Chances are, he'll be back in the room with us Wednesday morning.

We are, of course, disappointed that we can't spend time with him right now, but we are thankful for such a big, healthy baby and the wonderful health care here at St. Vincent's. Our trust is in God to watch over our boy and to keep our spirits high. Plus, having seen the other kids in the NICU, I think Coop could eat most of them. So if it comes down to a bambino-a-bambino scrap for survival, we've got that going for us.

Say a prayer for Coop's health, for Kelli' recovery and for all of our hearts, which are a little broken that we can't be with our baby right now.
